Sea of Love

Stargazey Heartz, Hugz, and Kissez
8" block, large lap size

I bought the fabric for this quilt on a whim when I went on the Central Washington Quilt Shop Hop. I had no plans for how I was going to use it, it just ended up being my theme for fabric buying during the trip.

After I got home I decided that a mix of Stargazey patterns would suit the fabric well. The Stargazey patterns are kind of wild and a little bit free form, and the fabrics are bright, bold, and range from acid-dyes to strong geometrics.

So far, I'm not impressed. I have 30 blocks sewn and they don't seem to be blending or contrasting in the way I hoped. It may be the ugliest quilt I've ever made (trust me, it's worse in person)! As I get more blocks done, I will rearrange the blocks to try to find a more pleasing layout or I may end up pulling out color combinations that just don't work with the others. Taking pictures also helps me see it in a different light.

The quilt top and backing are done! It's ready to be machine quilted. Yippee!!!

I added a narrow border of navy blue, hand dyed fabric, followed by a wide evergreen hand dye. The back is the same evergreen hand dye. After checking many stores, I finally found my border fabric at The Quilt Barn in Puyallup. What a cool store - this is a store in an old, Craftsman style home DONE RIGHT! I really enjoyed the store for the cozy atmosphere and beautiful fabric collections.
