Shepherd Sock in Pewter
Opal

While in Reno I visited Jimmy Beans and Deluxe Yarns. At Jimmy Beans the only yarn that tempted me was the Lorna's Laces. I'm planning to make a pair of socks for Richard although he says hand knit socks will be way too thick for him. Our feet are close enough in size that if they are too thick, they'll fit me too. The Pewter yarn has very subtle color changes in it that go from grayish blue to a grayish lavender.

I was a little bit disappointed that Jimmy Beans was such a small store. They have such a nice website that I was expecting them to be bigger.

At Deluxe Yarns I was tempted by the Opal which I hadn't yet seen in person. The skein of handpainted should make a lovely pair of socks for fall with the rich reds, oranges, and blacks. Although I have many self patterning sock yarns, the Flamingo was calling my name. My Mom loved the Lady Bug so that skein will make a pair of socks for her.

Deluxe Yarns is a little bit off the beaten path for a visitor to Reno, but well worth a visit. The owner was a delight and we felt very welcome in her store. She has recently re-opened in this location and wasn't quite fully stocked. Despite that I was thrilled to find the Opal skeins and was also quite tempted by some Debbie Bliss DK and aran weights.
