Halloween Ride
Silver Spurs Halloween Prize Ride
October 30, 2004
On October 30th, Patty, Lurleen, and I went to the Halloween Prize Ride
at Tahuya River Horse Camp. I hadn't been to the horse camp for about 15 years so I was anxious
to see if it was as I remembered it. We had a good time, but it was not an easy day.
First, neither JJ or Blondie wanted to load. They were both worked up and
sweating by the time we got them in the trailer. Then they both continued to be nervous
throughout the day. Every time I thought Blondie was settling in, five minutes later she'd be
worked up again. She wanted to walk on the sides of the trails (brushing me into wet brush and
trees), trot up hills, and walk on top of the horse in front of her. This isn't her usual behavior
so it was a little bit irritating when she was still doing it an hour and a half into the ride. In
fact, she worked so much harder than she needed to that she was all sweated up by the end of the
ride.
Don't miss her last picture which shows how sweaty she was and what happens
when you go along with your nose up another horses butt (the green stain).
